You may be wondering...What is a Pickle Mama?
So here’s the dill...Grayson Gant & Meghan Griffith met at Meredith College in 2000 and their friendship immediately blossomed. They shared a passion for live music and creativity and allowed this passion to guide and open their paths. After attending the first Bonnaroo in 2001, they added a new passion to their creative palate, hoop-dancing! At the time, they didn’t realize what an impact this simple circle would have on their lives.
Many hours of practice and countless dropped hoops later, Meghan & Grayson were finally getting the hang of hooping and began making their own hoops. This soon led to them making their own clothing and accessories to go along with their newfound love of hoop dance. They could be found in the Phish Lot selling hoops, clothes, and, you guessed it, PICKLES. Soon people began looking for them show after show and referring to them as “The Pickle Mamas”.
After graduating in Design and Business, the duo entered into the full-time work force, but continued down the path of self study.
When the student is ready the teacher appears, and in a synchronistic flash Grayson reunited with her former dance compadre, Lila Pierce Brown, who, the very next day, was opening a studio solely dedicated to the life affirming, heart centered, alignment based system of Anusara Yoga.
As they began to practice Anusara Yoga, their lives transformed for the better and they began to weave the teachings into their daily lives and hoop practices. Soon they began to teach a weekly "Heart-Centered Hooping" class at the studio, and it is there that they first met Angela. Angela walked in, a bright ray of sunshine and a natural hooper. From the beginning, it was apparent that these three were kindred spirits and soon they enjoyed hooping, yoga’ing, fire-dancing, creating, and laughing together on the regular. It’s safe to say that Angela was inherently a Pickle Mama, and Grayson and Meghan were overjoyed to have her officially join the “Creative Play heART Leads the Way” team.
Life long students, all three have continued to deepen their education. Angela earned a masters degree in International Business while living in Germany. Grayson is a LEED accredited professional and is now pursuing her National Interior Design Qualification to become a certified designer. Meghan is a certified Usui Reiki practitioner who has been sharing Reiki for the past 4 years and continues to study with her teacher. Angela is beginning on her path of Reiki study having completed Reiki I. All three mamas became certified in Body Talk Access, and Meghan went on to complete Body Talk Modules 1 and 2.
In 2011, the three, with the help of their beloved yoga "kula" and yoga teachers Sommer & Paul Sobin and Lila Pierce Brown, graduated from the Triangle Anusara Institute. The program has strengthend, energized, and refined their teaching of both yoga and hooping.
They continue to weave their hearts and love into all of the hoops and jewelry they create, classes they teach, and healing sessions they offer. You can find them all around the world sharing hoop workshops, performances, yoga and hoop classes, and smiles.
Anchored in life-affirming teachings, co-creating from their hearts, and aligned with the highest, the possibilities are endless for this trio of creative powerhouses.
